I've never been much for pearls and lace. Frankly, vintage style reminds me of the smell of a room that has wallpaper peeling off of musty plaster and lathe walls. I just have never cared for the style. However, on my last little jaunt to the craft store I picked up this adhesive lace thinking I could girl it up a bit. I guess I was having a "girly" moment and picked up this butterfly patterned paper - though I must say I liked it more because of the words on it than anything else. Hence, the birth of Vintage - my way.
I also happened to pick up a $1 pack of assorted chip board shapes on this little adventure. I dressed it up a bit by sponging on some white ink and adding a few rhinestones. The finishing touch - a foam adhesive square behind it to "bump" it up and give some dimension. The flowers on both cards are from a silk flower stem I got and disassembled at home. It's much more frugal to buy a stem with 6 flowers on it for $2.50 than to buy pre-made in the scrapbook department. Plus, I can customize the flower center with any brad out of my extensive collection - Bonus ! The beads you see sticking up near the top of the flower are from the wedding section. They are stems pre-made that you put into corsages or boutonniere's. Really what I was looking for were corsage pins to bead and make myself for the cards but for some reason I couldn't seem to locate them that day. Ah well, this works for me ! The flowers on the last card are ones that got in a package and had no idea how I would ever use that particular color. It's hard to see in the picture but it's more of a teal color and not one I use often. Glad I found something to use them up on. The less leftover's I have the more room I have for new !
Not your average rambling - I'm a cancer survivor, tbi mom, and live a crazy life !

Sorting through the card box...
It was time to do some reorganizing of the scrap/stamp room. I've actually been organized enough to pre-make cards for the coming birthdays and other events but needed someplace to store them until I was ready to use them. I had a box that I had used in the past but forgot about it when my son moved out and we created my scrap room. Upon opening the box I discovered some cards made last year. This is one of the Valentines Day cards I made with my daughters last year.
This is another one. It's a simple card but one of my favorites. The heart jewels are a dollar spot find. The sentiment and the little line of hearts are from a stamp set from Verve.
This card was made using up my scraps of paper left over from other projects. It's simple but sweet.
This card is a bit different. I used ink jet transparency for the base of the card. (it's a little hard to photograph so you can see) You have to make sure that the part of the card you are stamping on is the rough side of the transparency so your ink will stick to it. What you are seeing of the swirls is actually the reverse because it's stamped on the inside of the transparency. The flower and hearts are on the outside as well as the ribbon. The pink card stock is on the inside cover. At the very top of the card you can see a black and pink pattern peeking through that is two layers of card stock. I punched the design on black card stock and layered it over pink then glued it all to the inside back of the folded transparency card.
This is a birthday card made from leftover scrapbook stamps. My daughter has kept all of her movie ticket stubs from the time she began dating her husband. For their anniversary a few years back she made a scrapbook of all of the tickets and used this paper. We had lots of scraps left over and I think it turned out to make a pretty good birthday card for a man.
